Compulsive buying days come: Black Friday, Christmas, and among so much shopping, we sometimes recycle to give our clothes a second life. But much of the clothing we put in a container is never recycled or reused. Greenpeace knows this because a year ago they placed tracking devices on 29 garments placed in containers. All of them traveled thousands of kilometers around the world. Some of it ended up in Asia and another part in Arica, with a mandatory stop in the United Arab Emirates, which ended up in landfills in African countries or directly in rivers or on beaches, like one in Ghana. Most of these clothes will not be used by anyone for two reasons.: we consume so much that it is impossible to manage its recycling and the majority is of such poor quality that it cannot be recycled. All this is a consequence of an uncontrolled and unsustainable production and consumption model. So, these days, when we go shopping, we should ask ourselves if we really need it.
