José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes appears at the Europa Press sports breakfast forum and talks about equality, racism, violence in football and all those problems that Spanish sport is facing. There is also talk of doping, of the reform that the Secretary of State for Sports has undertaken in an institution always loaded with content. Uribes assures that “good times are coming from now on for Celad (Spanish anti-doping).”
And that statement does not cloud the last resolution of the Prosecutor’s Officewhich has rejected the complaint filed by the Higher Sports Council for alleged irregularities of the previous director of the anti-doping agency, José Luis Terreros, by finding no evidence of a crime.
«Since I am not the judge, neither prosecutor, nor police, I transferred it to the Prosecutor’s Office so they could evaluate it – Uribes responded to ABC -. If you understand that there has been no crime, you must respect it. “That has nothing to do with the dismissal of the previous director, who responds to a Celad model that we believe was not being produced.”
The highest authority in Spanish sport refers to the following: «We want a more transparent, more efficient Celad, that would return to the institutional framework with the World Anti-Doping Agency (AMA), they had not had relations for two years, which cannot be when there is to work in a coordinated manner. And in this area we decided to replace him with Silvia Calzón and now with Carlos Peralta.
Uribes explains to ABC the anti-doping model that is intended for Spain: «Peralta is a magnificent doctor and athlete who is going to work with the commission that we have created in which he is Alvaro Martin and other extraordinary athletes to fight against doping and cheating, which is an obligation on our part.
The president of the CSD considers that the anti-doping agency “is stronger than ever, in better conditions, we have reinforced a very weak position. “The decisions we have made are to improve the effectiveness of the agency in a problem that damages the sport when it occurs.”
Uribes explains the achievements that he understands the new team has already achieved: «We have made 45 files at this timewhich is more than double the previous year, one hundred percent of the athletes who have gone to the Games have done so with a control carried out by us, the relationship with WADA has been reestablished. There is transparency and efficiency. Spanish anti-doping will have good times from now on.
Regarding the elections in the Football Federation, the secretary of state said “I hope that football takes advantage of the opportunity to get out of where it is. I would like there to be at least two candidates. And it’s not that I propose Forest, who would be ideal for his common sense, honesty and ability to solve problems.
“The Soccer World Cup has never been at risk,” the leader maintained. “That perception has never been raised in FIFA, with which we have maintained contacts and with which we have sometimes not agreed.”
