Tremor in Ecuador: strong earthquake of 6.0 was recorded this Thursday

An earthquake was recorded on the afternoon of this Thursday, July 14, 2022 in Samborondón and was felt in the cities of Guayaquil, Quito and Cuenca, according to citizen reports.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.0, according to the report of the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School.

This telluric movement was recorded at a depth of 57.83 km, 12.59 km from Simon Bolivar, Guayas.

People reported that the earthquake was felt in different sectors of Quito, such as La Gasca, El Dorado, Carcelén, Pomasqui, San Bartolo, Turubamba and other places.

In Cuenca the residents also felt it, There were people in the south of the Azuaya capital who reported a strong tremor due to the movement.

In Duran, a strong tremor alerted the people. In a local police station, people ran out, abandoning purchases in boxes and metal carts. “My blessed God, the earth bellows,” said a woman who hugged her daughter.
