Aden (Al-Ittihad)
Yesterday morning, 20 members of the Houthi group were killed and wounded in an armed ambush in the Al-Tars Al-Sharman area in the Mawiyah District of Taiz Governorate, while the group was launching a military campaign in the region, while three civilians were killed.
The Houthi group launched a military campaign at midnight yesterday, in the Al-Tars Al-Sharman area, and fired live bullets at civilians and pursued them with the aim of kidnapping them, which led to the killing of 3 of them, in addition to terrorizing women and children, according to sources reported to Yemeni media.
According to the sources, the Houthi group was reinforced yesterday morning with another campaign, but it was caught in an armed ambush set up in the Al-Tars area, isolated by Qarina, which resulted in the killing and wounding of 20 Houthi members.
The sources indicated that the Houthi group intended to storm residents’ homes, tamper with them, and kidnap people without any justification, which prompted residents to confront them.
In Ma’rib Governorate, in the heaviest battlefield in years, 14 people were killed or wounded yesterday, as a result of confrontations between Yemeni forces and the Houthi group.
Confrontations took place between a force from the “Giants” brigades, part of the Yemeni forces, and fighters from the Houthi group on the Harib front, “south of Ma’rib”, which is adjacent to the Shabwa oil governorate, “southeast of Yemen,” during which heavy weapons were used, according to media reports.
She added that the confrontations lasted more than an hour, and resulted in the killing of two members of the Yemeni forces and three members of the Houthi group, while 9 were wounded on both sides.
The field escalation comes after a relative calm witnessed on the fighting fronts in Ma’rib Governorate between the Yemeni forces and the Houthis, where similar fighting took place between the two parties, on March 23, on the Balq Front, south of Ma’rib Governorate, leaving 10 dead, including two soldiers and a number of wounded.
Marib is considered the arena of the most violent conflict between the Yemeni army and the Houthi group, since the group launched, at the beginning of 2021, a campaign to control the entire Marib Governorate, especially its center, the city of Marib, during which it was able to control several areas in the governorate rich in oil and gas.
The city of Ma’rib, which is controlled by the Yemeni army, is gaining great political, military and economic importance in the conflict in Yemen, as it includes the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and the leadership of the Yemeni army, in addition to the “Safer” fields and refinery and the largest gas electricity generation station in the Arab country with a capacity of 341 megawatts.
In mid-April, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, confirmed during a briefing to the UN Security Council that “the military situation at the country level has recently witnessed an escalation of hostilities on several fronts,” calling on the parties to the conflict to reduce the escalation. .
