The Vatican, as an observer, did not sign the declaration of the conference on Ukraine
The Holy See of the Vatican did not sign the declaration of the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland in accordance with its observer status. This is reported by RIA News with reference to the Vatican Press Service.
As the agency’s interlocutor stated, the Holy See “does not sign the final declarations, which corresponds to its observer status.”
The “Peace Summit” on Ukraine was held on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, with the participation of 101 delegations from different countries and international organizations. Russia was not invited to the conference.
The final communiqué was signed by 84 delegates – 80 countries and 4 organizations. According to the adopted document, to achieve peace, a dialogue between both parties is necessary, and they should discuss the written provisions. They include clauses stating that all Ukrainian nuclear power plants must operate under the control of Kyiv and the supervision of the IAEA. Also, the Ukrainian side should gain access to its ports on the Black and Azov Seas and be able to supply its agricultural products to third countries without restrictions. Another condition is the exchange of all prisoners of war and the return of Ukrainian children taken to Russia home.
