Aden (Union)
The Yemeni government welcomed the removal of the name of the Yemeni armed forces from the UN list of parties implicated in grave violations against children in situations of armed conflict contained in the report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the year 2021.
The Yemeni government said in a statement reported by the Yemeni news agency “Saba”, that the decision came in appreciation of the efforts made by the government, starting with the signing of the action plan and the road map for its implementation between the Yemeni government and the United Nations and the higher directives to prevent the recruitment and use of children in the conflict.
It added that it held many activities, workshops, training courses and field visits during the reporting period, in addition to the significant decrease in cases of alleged violations of government forces.
It affirmed its full keenness to protect children and preserve their rights and to make all efforts and measures to limit their use and recruitment in the armed conflict.
It commended the continuous and fruitful cooperation with the United Nations, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict and the country team working in Yemen.
