In New York City, United States, an organization placed a technological portal called The Portal that connects the region with DublinIreland, in real time and without filters, but the behavior of some citizens generated concern among the authorities.
The organization Portals created the sculpture with the aim of eliminating the barriers that borders represent for citizens, and connecting two cities on different continents with soundless transmissions in real time and twenty-four hours a day.
In New York City, the sculpture was placed in the heart of Manhattan, at Flatiron Plazawhile in Dublin it was located on a main street in the capital called O’Connell Streetand on May 9 they began to operate simultaneously.
Initially, People from different countries began to greet each other and transmit different messages, and even organized choreographed dances for the spectators. However, the situation became problematic as the days went by due to the behavior of some citizens.
“There has been a 0.1% interaction which includes some hate messages, some nudity, and that ruins everything for everyone. So we are working closely with the portal team and the Irish City Council to find ways to make sure we can continue to display this. “The vast majority really enjoy the fact that they can look at the city this way,” she said.

These attitudes led the authorities to temporarily close the portal, and in an official statement, Dublin city council explained how they are continuing to work to get it back up and running. “Although we cannot control all of these actions, we are implementing some technical solutions to address this and they will go live in the next 24 hours,” they indicated.
