According to the source, doctors conducted an examination, as a result of which a tumor was discovered in the Russian woman’s head, which does not yet require surgery. The ex-athlete was offered to see an oncologist who would draw up a treatment plan.
On June 11, Masterkova was hospitalized in Moscow with a suspected stroke. It was specified that the athlete was in a state of moderate severity.
Masterkova is a two-time winner of the 1996 Olympics at distances of 800 and 1500 meters. She also has gold medals at the 1999 World Championships and the 1998 European Championships at a distance of 1500 meters.
