Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces: more than 50 Pantsir air defense systems cover Russian objects from drone attacks
More than 50 Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun systems (ZRPK) were used to cover objects on Russian territory from drone attacks. Number of “Shells” named Commander of the Air and Missile Defense Forces, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Andrei Semenov in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
He noted that since the beginning of the special operation and the enemy’s first attempts to attack targets in Moscow and the Moscow region with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), work has been carried out to strengthen air and missile defense.
“To provide effective cover from UAV attacks, more than 50 Pantsir combat vehicles are deployed, as well as other means of combating small air targets, including [это] portable air defense systems (anti-aircraft missile systems – approx. “Tapes.ru”), various means of electronic warfare (electronic warfare – approx. “Tapes.ru”), a large number of visual observation posts have been deployed,” he said.

The Pantsir-S air defense missile system is designed for short-range cover of military and civilian targets. The Pantsir-S1 modification carries two double-barreled 2A38M cannons and 12 anti-aircraft missiles. The complex received a multi-channel target acquisition and tracking system.
In February, the press service of the High-Precision Complexes holding reported that tests of the Pantsir-S1M small-sized missile, designed to combat drones, would be completed in 2024.
