The delegation of the National Archives and the National Library, during their visit to Israel, signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Haifa with the aim of supporting common goals and working for the benefit of the international cultural and documentary heritage sector, in addition to supporting programs and activities of mutual benefit, and cooperating in cultural activities.
The memorandum was signed at the university in Haifa by Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director-General of the National Archives and Library, and Dr. Ron Rubin, President of Haifa University, in the presence of Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Khaja, the country’s ambassador to Israel, the delegation of the National Archives and Library, and university professors.
Abdullah Majid Al Ali said: We at the National Archives and Library in the UAE are keen to build bridges towards Israeli archival and academic institutions in order to consolidate cooperation, within the framework of the common concern to build partnerships and relations that benefit and progress for both parties, and this memorandum is a new building block that increases the strength of strategic relations And strength between the two friendly countries.
He added: This understanding between the Archives, the National Library and the University of Haifa comes within the framework of strengthening the agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. The Acting Director General of the National Archives and Library expressed his happiness at signing the memorandum of understanding with Haifa University, because of its importance in terms of enhancing scientific research, completing archival collections that document the past, exchanging experiences and successful experiences in the field of preserving cultural archives, and processing, digitizing and making historical records and documents available.
For his part, Dr. Ron Rubin, President of the University of Haifa, welcomed the delegation of the National Archives and Library, and considered the memorandum of understanding a scientific field for cooperation within the framework of common tasks and goals, which would enrich the knowledge of both sides with advanced experiences in historical scientific research, documentation and archiving, digitization of cultural archives, and advanced technologies in this field. domains. He added: Civilizations can only continue through dialogue and cooperation, and we are optimistic about all the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, which is an embodiment of constructive cooperation that leads to the dialogue of cultures and enriches them with all that is new through strong bridges on which we exchange experiences and successful experiences, and we hope that this will lead to more harmony and distinction in the future. .
According to the terms of the memorandum, the two parties will cooperate in researching library and archive resources related to each other’s history in the other’s holdings, in digitizing and exchanging these collections, exchanging experts in the field of library sciences and the humanities for knowledge sharing, and implementing training programs for library staff. The memorandum of understanding also provides opportunities for cooperation in cultural activities that promote cultural exchange, including: seminars and conferences, workshops and staff training, study tours and the exchange of publications, their translation, and the organization and enrichment of exhibitions.
