Another US aircraft carrier strike group, led by the USS Gerald R. Ford, will arrive in Europe in mid-November. This publication reported UK Defense Journal.
The exact dates of the arrival of the group are unknown. It is noted that initially the aircraft carrier planned to moor in the port of the British Portsmouth in the south of England. However, due to the size of the vessel, the decision was made to anchor at the nearby Spithead anchorage.
The carrier group includes the missile cruiser USS Normandy, the destroyers USS Ramage, USS McFaul, USS Thomas Hudner, as well as the resupply vessel USNS Joshua Humpreys, the freighter USNS Robert E. Peary and the boat USCGC Hamilton.
In addition, four squadrons of strike fighters, as well as helicopter and radar groups, are participating in the expedition.
The group will cooperate with the air, sea and ground assets of NATO member countries to strengthen the joint defensive forces.
At the moment, the Mediterranean Sea is another US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, with a group of five more ships. The American authorities decided to leave it in European waters in December last year against the background of the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine.

Prior to that, on October 23, the commanders of the 101st division of the US Airborne Forces said they were ready to cross the border and enter the territory of Ukraine in the event of an aggravation of the conflict with Russia.
