The 'Carlin' era ends
A new chapter begins for the team Rodin Carlinfounded in the United Kingdom in 1996 by Trevor Carlin and known for having participated in various open-wheel and non-open wheel competitions over the years: above all, the Formula 2 and Formula 3, in which it still competes today. However, ahead of the 2024 season, the team has announced a structural reorganization, with annex change of name to Rodin Motorsportmade official by the same team through its website.
The departure of the founder
The main motivation for this 'revolution' is linked to the choice of the aforementioned founder and owner of the team, who however made the decision to resign from the project born with Rodin Cars. Previously, Carlin had sold some majority shares to the New Zealand car manufacturer, but in reality it was supposed to be his wife, Stephanie Carlin, who took over from the Briton, who however moved to McLaren in the role of Director of Commercial Operations.
The victories and the drivers launched in F1
In this way, with the total transfer to Rodin Cars for 2024, one of the most emblematic names of the formative motorsport categories disappears. Throughout its history from the late 90s to today, several Formula 1 drivers have occupied the seat of this historic team, winner of the Constructors' title in F2 in 2018 as well as various successes in various national and continental categories, without forgetting the success in Indy Lights in 2016. In 2017, for example, Lando Norris in the championship of Formula 3, but in the various competitions Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen also passed through Farnham (home of the team). All this without forgetting other former F1 players such as Robert Kubica, Takuma Sato and Jean-Eric Vergne, just to name a few.
In the press release released by the team on its official website, David Dicker, Director of Rodin Motorsportthus inaugurated the new page of this team: “I am thrilled to lead Rodin Motorsport into this new era of our sporting history. The team has an extraordinary racing pedigree that we will continue to build on in the future. The 2024 season will once again be an exciting year for everyone at Rodin Motorsport and I for one can't wait to get back on track in our rightful place. Our core values remain the same and we continue to strive to be the leading team in junior motorsport. Our commitment to the drivers, championships and staff remains unwavering; we are here to race, develop riders and continue to win.”
