September 5 marks the 50th anniversary of the attack during the Olympics.
Germany’s the government has decided to give a total of 28 million euros to the family members of those who died in the attack on the 1972 Munich Olympics.
The sitting president of Israel Isaac Herzog was pleased with Germany’s gesture.
“I want to express my gratitude, Chancellor [Olaf] Scholz’s to the leading German government for this important step. They take responsibility and correct the injustice of history that the victims’ families have had to experience.”
September 5 marks the 50th anniversary of the Munich massacre, where over two days, Palestinian terrorists held and killed athletes and staff members of the Israeli Olympic team. A total of 11 Israelis died. In addition to them, five terrorists and a West German policeman lost their lives.
