The Bolivarian Games of Valledupar 2022, scheduled to take place from June 24 to July 5, could be practically on edge.
On this Wednesday afternoon, The Attorney General’s Office warned of possible delays in the works of some scenarios in which the competitions are planned to take place. In addition, the entity indicated that there appear to be irregularities in the award contracts for other related constructions.
To this complaint, the ultimatum of Guillermo Herrera, Minister of Sports, was added in the last hours. “The games are going to be held in Valledupar. But, for example, if the BMX track is not ready, we will look for an alternate venue”said the official on his Twitter account.
The reality of the Bolivarian Games 2022
“Taking into account the time remaining to start the games, the Public Ministry pointed out that Of the total works visited, there is only one that contemplates three scenarios with a percentage of progress greater than 50%, and the track contract for BMX has not been awarded“, reported the Attorney General’s Office, this Wednesday, in a statement.
“Similarly, It was found that most of the terms of the contracts in execution exceed the start date of the Bolivarian Games, so their early delivery depends exclusively on the will of the contractors.“, complemented the entity in its bulletin.

The Sports Minister, Guillermo Herrera, said this morning on ‘Blu radio’ that, in effect, measures are being taken due to the delays in construction.
“We set a deadline of March 30 to catch up on the execution of pending works. This Wednesday we get a yellow card and on the first of April we will see if we have to get a red card. The games are going to be held in Valledupar. But, for example, if the BMX track is not ready, we will look for an alternate venue,” the official said.

“In Valledupar we are going to organize the participation of 33 sports. Only three of those 33 are under observation to see if the schedule is met or not. I ask the competent entities to check if there are facts that warrant investigations”Herrera added.
