The military transport plane crash is already the third military plane crash in Russia in a week.
Russian a military plane caught fire as it landed in Ryaza, Russia, early Friday, according to the news agency Interfax. The city is located 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Four of those on board were killed and six injured.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the transport aircraft had an engine failure during the training flight.
“During the training flight, without cargo, due to an unidentified engine failure, the crew decided to land,” a Department of Defense statement said.
“The plane was partially destroyed when it hit the ground.”
The aircraft is a Soviet-made Iljuš Il-76 transport aircraft.
