Decision-makers need to be concerned about how to get electricity and heat to cities next winter.
Finland the government and parliament have plagued the peat sector. A significant number of entrepreneurs have given up and are giving up the production of energy peat.
We are energy dependent on Russia for oil, gas, coal, electricity and wood chips, among other things. And in this global situation, we are giving up and in part already giving up the only domestic reliable fuel, peat!
In the light of recent news, decision-makers in both Parliament and energy companies need to be concerned about how to get electricity and heat to cities next winter.
The new political decision must classify peat as a renewable natural product. In addition, the maximum production of fuel peat must be launched next summer, albeit with state support. Economic conditions must be created immediately for machine and car entrepreneurs in the peat sector to start production instead of ceasing production.
It may be that next winter it doesn’t matter what a tonne of CO2 emissions costs. The supply of heat and electricity in general may be essential.
