Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said this Friday (14) that he will order an immediate ceasefire as soon as Ukraine withdraws its troops from the four regions occupied by Moscow in the east and south of the country, and renounces its plans to join NATO.
“As soon as Kiev announces that it is ready for this decision and begins a real withdrawal of troops from these regions and also officially announces its renunciation of NATO membership plans, the order to cease fire and start negotiations will be immediately issued from our side” , said the Kremlin chief while addressing officials at the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a speech broadcast live on television.
“Ukrainian troops must completely withdraw from the entire territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. Then negotiations will be possible,” he said.
In this sense, he specified that he refers to the administrative territory of these four regions when Ukraine achieved independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, since today the Russian Army does not control them in their entirety.
The Russian leader also assured that Russia is committed to ensuring the “safe and unhindered” withdrawal of Ukrainian military units.
Furthermore, he stressed that his government demands a “neutral, non-bloc and non-nuclear energy” Ukraine, which would be accompanied by the demilitarization and “denazification” of the country, two of the objectives outlined when he ordered the start of the military campaign in February 2022. , said Putin.
“Undoubtedly, the rights, freedoms and interests of Russian-speaking Ukrainian citizens must be fully guaranteed; the new territorial reality must be recognized; the status of Crimea and Sevastopol, and the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, and the Kherson regions and Zaporizhzhya as entities of the Russian Federation,” he added.
Putin stressed that all these commitments must be coined international agreements, which would also include “the cancellation of all sanctions against Russia”.
“I consider that Russia is proposing a variant that will actually end the war in Ukraine. In other words, we call for a tragic page in history to be turned,” she said.
At the same time, Putin warned that, “if Kiev and Western capitals give up on this, as in the past, they will end up being politically and morally responsible for the continued bloodshed.”
“Evidently, the situation on the ground, at the front, will change and not in favor of the regime [governo] of Kiev, and the conditions for starting negotiations will be different”, he also said.
Putin, who again accused Volodymyr Zelensky of being an “illegitimate” president who usurped power after his mandate expired on May 20, established these conditions on the eve of the peace summit that begins this Saturday (15), in Switzerland.
“We can already anticipate that [na Suíça] everything will be reduced to vague conversations of a demagogic nature and a new round of accusations against Russia”, declared the dictator.
