Pole vaulter Margot Chevrier made a wild promise.
On Saturday injured in the pole vault final at the World Athletics Halls Margot Chevrier has told more about his situation in the stories section of Instagram.
Chevrier, 24, wrote late Saturday night that he suffered an open fracture of the metatarsal bone in his ankle.
The ankle was operated on for the first time on Sunday morning, and a second operation is planned in Chevrier's native France.
The pole vaulter published a picture of his leg, which is supported by a bandage, in connection with the text. His front thigh is written in black text in English:
“Paris 24, I'm jumping.”
Chevrier therefore assures that he will compete in the Paris Olympics starting at the end of July, despite the open fracture.
The pole vaulter updated on Sunday morning that screws will be placed in his ankle. He thanked the hundreds of messages and support he has received from the international sports community.
Accident happened when the Frenchman tried to pass 465 for the first time. The jump failed, and Chevrier fell partially past the mattress.
His foot hit the cane mount. Chevrier was left lying on the ground and screaming in pain. Emergency services arrived immediately, and Chevrier was treated on the spot. He was carried away from the competition area on a stretcher.
Chevrier's personal record on outdoor tracks is 471 and 465 on indoor tracks. He has won the French championship five times.
