The woman's family claims she is in excellent health and has asked authorities to consider an assault.
Thirty-four year old Martina Peruzza was found in state of unconsciousness and lying in a pool of blood, shortly after 8pm on March 19th. The scene takes place inside the parapharmacy where the woman works, inside the IperTosano shopping center in Colle Umberto, in the province of Treviso.
There were some customers who called i rescued and thanks to the timely intervention of 118, the young woman was taken away and underwent emergency surgery at the Santa Maria dei Battuti hospital in Conegliano. Here the doctors decided to move her to the neurosurgery department of Ca'Foncello. It seems two large bruises were found on her head.
The thirty-four-year-old's condition now seems to be improving. She now she's also following a rehabilitation process at the Oras in Motta di Livenza. In the next few days, the Carabinieri of the Vittorio Veneto Company will start an interview with the owner of the parapharmacy to clarify what happened. According to what was reported by the 'Gazzettino', the images from the surveillance cameras did not provide details to understand what happened to the woman while she was at work in the parapharmacy.
According to the 118 doctor who responded to the scene, the young woman may have suffered a illness related to neurological problems. This hypothesis, also supported by the carabinieri, could be confirmed by the fact that, after having awakened from the pharmacological coma, Martina began to speak in English, while only recently has she started using Italian again.
The woman, however, is unable to reconstruct the events of the evening she was found in critical condition: she remembers nothing. Her family maintains that she is in excellent health and has asked the military to also consider the possibility of assault, although there is currently no evidence to support such a theory. A relative of the woman declared shortly after the incident:
Martina's condition is serious. The main problem is that we cannot understand what happened. We fear that she was the subject of an attack, or that someone threatened her and that, in the confusion, she hit her head.
