On the stage of the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater, Sergei Diaghilev’s opera “The Boy at Christ’s on the Christmas Tree” based on the story of Fyodor Dostoevsky will be shown. It has never been presented anywhere else.
Opera director Yulia Khubatullina told “Astrakhan-24”that it will not be a Christmas tale, but the viewer who comes to this performance will have to empathize and think.
This opera is only part of the project being implemented by the theater for the 200th anniversary of the writer. It includes a cycle of evenings-portraits “Adequately about Dostoevsky”, which took place on the small stages of the theater. “The boy at Christ’s tree” will become a kind of culmination.
The author of the project is the artistic director and chief conductor of the theater Valery Voronin. It was thanks to this project that the theater became the owner of the presidential grant. The competition was held by the Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
On November 12, it was reported that the exhibition “I am Dostoevsky” was opened in the Mikhailovsky Castle of St. Petersburg, timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Dostoevsky. One of the items on display was the Gospel, which belonged to the writer. Residents of St. Petersburg will see the exhibit for the first time.
