The video game industry is in a kind of decline but for the workforce, given that just beginning the month of January, multiple layoffs have already been reported in large companies in the market such as Riot Games and also Xbox. And although you might already think that we are reaching a time of tranquility, it seems that not, because now another fairly large company has joined the trend to let some of its staff go.
As mentioned in the forums Reset Erathe company that owns Sonic The Hedgehog He is going to lay off 61 people within the different departments but within the United States division, and that is equivalent to a little more than 10% of the total number of people they have under their command. The layoffs were counted in What Layoffan automated X account that lists verified layoffs as they are announced and there is also talk that March 8 will be the day they must leave the offices.
Here you can see it:
🚨 LAYOFF ALERT – California 🇺🇸
Sega of America, Inc. at 140 Progress, Suite 100, Irvine CA 92618 and 6430 Oak Canyon Road, Suite 100, Irvine CA 92618 will layoff 61 employees on March 8, 2024 as indicated in a California WARN notice.

The media has confirmed through State of California Employment Development Department that SEGA of America has notified its plans for two separate layoffs of 49 employees and 12 employees, both of which will take effect on the aforementioned date. It is said to have approximately 440 employees, meaning such a layoff would affect around 13% of its workforce.
As we already mentioned, this joins other news that is related to massive layoffs, or at least that was in the case of Microsoft, which almost reached 2,000 people who are leaving the company, and it is something suspicious that happens once they have bought to Activision Blizzard. Also just happened with Eidos Montrealwith 97 employees leaving their work in the offices, to this is added the announcement that they canceled a Deus Ex which was never announced to the market.

Editor's note: It is a little scary that layoffs in the industry will not stop, and it is likely that things will not end here, since there are still companies to be exposed to the world. However, let's hope it takes a long time before we get bad news again.
