Profumo opens to the right: “I expect order and rigor from the new government”
Leonardo’s CEO, Alessandro Profumo, opens to the right and crowns the government that will be led by Giorgia Meloni. Where is the news, it will be said? In fact there is and it is twofold. First of all, because the former number one of Unicredit has always been considered “left”, and he has never made a mystery. Faithful to that Anglo-Saxon diktat for which you can earn a lot, a lot even without forgetting the last ones. Yes, because when it isl 2007 decides to carry out the merger with Capitalia, which leads to the establishment of one of the most important European banking groups, Profumo is the golden boy of finance. In addition to being one of the highest paid managers in the country, with his 9.42 million, which was joined by 3.92 million free stock options. And when he received the maxi-liquidation from Unicredit (40 million) decided to donate two to Don Colmegna’s association in Milan.
The second “news in the news” is that Profumo decides to give an interview to the director of Libero, Pietro Senaldi. A center-right newspaper that can show its good disposition towards the new executive. The reason is also personal: at the age of 65 the manager will have to go through the difficult path of renewing appointments next year. In short, the possibility of remaining at the helm of Leonardo for another three years will be played. It would be the third term, but until a few weeks ago no one would have bet on his stay.
Meanwhile, for the affair Mps which has yet to be concluded and which sees the CEO of Leonardo and the then CEO of Monte Fabrizio Viola convicted in the first instance on charges of falsifying the financial statements for six months (out of the 18 overall presidency a Siena). The sentence arrived in October 2020 but, to date, there is still no news of the appeal. In the meantime, however, Profumo makes mea culpa: “In my life I have lost too many years in finance. Very boring compared to the industry“.
