The Prosecutor’s Office of Lucca has opened an investigation into the Jovanotti concert, the Jova Beach Party scheduled on the Muraglione beach, in Viareggio, between 2 and 3 September. The Corriere Fiorentino reports it. At the moment, the newspaper writes, the judiciary assumes the 733 bis of the penal code, that is to say the crime that involves the destruction or deterioration of habitats within a protected site. The file is against unknown persons and no person – at least for the moment – is registered in the register of suspects. The investigation was born following a complaint that was also filed in the Prosecutor’s Office. At this point, the opening of an investigation for what is defined as the Viareggio summer event became automatic.
In the Prosecutor’s Office it all started because an environmental association filed a study by Professor Giovanni Baccaro of the University of Trieste relating to the “sampling of the psammophilous vegetation carried out in the Muraglione di Viareggio area at the beginning of August”. Basically, explains Corriere Fiorentino, this study explains that the plants present on the beach contribute to the construction of the dunes, increase their height and consolidate them, counteracting the erosion of the beach. The same report was also received by the Superintendency which initiated some checks. The organizers, who were immediately given the green light by the Municipality of Viareggio on any aspect, should present the environmental assessment today in the municipal administration offices.
Yesterday, the mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro released the text of an opinion by Arpat, which in fact gives the green light to the Jovanotti demonstration: the Muraglione beach does not have, according to the regional agency, such value as to risk being put in discussion by the presence in two days of 80 thousand people.
The organizers of the event: “Fancy accusations”
The organizers of the Jova Beach Party in Viareggio, the event that will see Jovanotti perform on 2 and 3 September, strongly reject the accusations made by the president of Anpas Toscana Dimitri Bettini. «It surprises me and leaves me very perplexed that a few days before the event there may still be instrumental controversies without any foundation – says Massimo Gramigni, organizer of the double concert with Prg for Trident Music -. As in 2019, the Jova Beach Party of Viareggio will be able to count on the maximum collaboration of the Misericordia, the Red Cross and the Green Cross, or of all the subjects operating in Versilia. The plan on which we have been working for months has been finalized with the utmost satisfaction of all and without any exception on the estimates sent which have been accepted without any kind of discussion ». The Misericordie of the Versilia coordination, reads a note, will be present with about 20 health operating teams.
L’Arpat: the beach of Viareggio is not a protected area. The mayor: “Stop the controversy.” Italia Nostra: “Superintendence decides”
The beach where Jovanotti’s concerts will be held in Viareggio (Lucca) on 2 and 3 September “does not fall within the perimeter of the Migliarino San Rossore Park and is therefore not subject to prohibitions or special protection actions”, “as regards the ‘dune habitat and vegetation there are no protected species and habitats ”,“ only four plant species are protected by regional law 56/2000. For these, given the low coverage present, it is possible to suggest forms of reporting and sensitization to the public present “. Arpat writes this in a communication to the Municipality of Viareggio (Lucca) and to the harbor master’s office regarding the characteristics of the Muraglione beach where the Jova Beach Party shows are scheduled. Furthermore, for the Arpat the area “is heavily anthropized due to the presence of a wall that delimits the area that separates it from the port of Viareggio and, despite being a dune area, does not fall within the classification of natural dune habitats listed in the EEC Directive” , while «with regard to the addition of sand, envisaged by the Municipality, it should be noted that no request for an opinion has been received in this sector. Since the procedure is configured as nourishment, it must be authorized by the Tuscany Region ». Mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro comments on Arpat’s communication: «We can also consider yet another summer controversy over. The Arpat clarifies that the Muraglione beach, where the Jovanotti concert in Darsena will take place, is not the final habitat and the plant species are not protected species. Good day”. In recent days there was a protest from Italia Nostra and other environmental associations for the choice of the concert venue where, as in 2019, tens of thousands people are expected (80,000 spectators were expected, today over 70,000 spectators expected). Italia Nostra writes in a press release: «The Arpat note is not conclusive, the Superintendence must decide. We also observe that the note contains dated photos and descriptions, relating to what the area looked like in 2019 and no longer valid at present “, moreover to date” protected habitats and species are reported “, therefore” a generic one is certainly not enough ” reporting and raising awareness of the public present ‘”.
