First Lady Janja da Silva inaugurated this Thursday (June 6, 2024) a solidarity laundry in Guaíba, in Rio Grande do Sul. The municipality was one of the most affected by the floods that hit the State.
12 washing machines were delivered. O The site has the capacity to serve up to 80 families and wash up to 1 ton of clothes per day. It was installed in the Santa Rita neighborhood, which is one of the most populous in the city and one of the most affected.
The initiative was a partnership with the city’s first lady, Deisi Maranata. “We made a video call, we talked [sic] a little bit about the needs here in our city and it [Janja] He thought about how he could help us and had the idea of sending us the machines.”said the mayor’s wife Marcelo Maranata (PDT).
Janja also visited a shelter in Ginásio Coelhão, where he spoke with people sheltering there. Then, she visited a shelter for animals that were taken in after the heavy rains.
