The head of the WHO office in Russia, Berdyklychev, did not rule out the emergence of a new epidemic
In Russia, the emergence of a new epidemic has not been ruled out; the World Health Organization (WHO) is always preparing for this. This was stated by the head of the WHO office in Russia, Dr. Batyr Berdyklychev, his quotes Channel 5.
The specialist explained that there are already viruses and bacteria that can change their characteristics and cause large outbreaks of epidemics. However, he denied information that the so-called “disease X” would soon spread. The doctor explained that “Disease X” refers to a possible new infection that has not yet manifested itself.
“The emergence of a new epidemic is not a question of whether it will arise, but rather a question of when,” Berdyklychev said. He added that it is not yet clear where the outbreak of the new disease may occur.
In March, Rospotrebnadzor announced a high level of Russia’s preparedness for new viruses. The statement was released amid discussions in the scientific community about “Disease X”. The department emphasized that the Sanitary Shield anti-infection system operates on the territory of the state, and a network of PCR centers is also being developed.
