Hockey fall the hottest question has been when Colorado and Nathan MacKinnon reach an agreement. Now it happened.
Center forward MacKinnon, 27, signed an eight-year and over one hundred million dollar (equivalent in euros) contract with the Avalanche, the NHL said on its website.
Finnish star striker Mikko Rantanen gets a hundred million dollar player next to him. Rantanen and MacKinnon have played as chain friends for most of the matches in recent years, and the results have been quite good.
“Nathan is naturally one of the leaders in the league and that’s why we wanted to sign a long contract before the start of the season,” Colorado’s athletic director Chris MacFarland said the NHL website.
MacFarland praised his star player’s rare combination of speed and power, to which can also be added competitiveness. The list of MacKinnon’s qualities could be continued for a very long time, he is such a good player.
“We are excited that he will continue to be one of us for many more years.”
If MacKinnon is allowed to play a full season without injuries, a 100-point streak is almost guaranteed. Last winter, he scored a whopping 88 points in 65 games.
The new contract starts rolling only after the starting season, when the club’s icon still had one year old paper valid.
