Sharjah Longines Racecourse will host tomorrow, Saturday noon, the activities of the fourth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council Cup race dedicated to horses produced by the Gulf, sponsored by the Racing Festival of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the ceremony consists of six runs dedicated to purebred Arabian and hybrid horses.
The Gulf Cooperation Council Cup attracts a group of strong horses seeking to register their name on the list of champions in the race, the prize of which is 150,000 dirhams.
11 horses are competing for the title in the fifth round of the ceremony, which is held over a distance of 1,700 meters, “Heiba”, the representative of Saudi Arabia, “Shareq Al-Khalidiya” for Athba Races, the summer of the last edition, and “Balad Al-Reef” for Al-Ajban Stables.
He is expected to compete strongly “Shawwal” for Al Wathba Races, under the supervision of Majid Al Jahouri, next to “Nahawand” by Ahmed Al Marar under the supervision of Muhammad Daqash, and “Sanad” by Khalifa Al Neyadi, and the Omani horses seek to maintain the title through “Al-Mustafad” by Mosbeh Al-Maamari, under the supervision of Fahd Al-Hajri.
The evening opens with a run dedicated to foals and mares aged 4 years and over, competing for a distance of 1700 meters “Handicap”, led by “AF Nashra”, next to “Umm Al-Asayel”, “Harba” and “Marwa Warsan”.
In the second round, 9 horses will compete at a distance of 1700 meters, “Handicap”. Among the most prominent participants in this run is “AF Al-Maher”, the winner last week, and one of his strongest competitors is “Gab the Dragonfly”, and there is “AF Mazmar”.
11 horses are competing in the third set for a distance of 1000 metres, “Handicap”, and among the horses nominated for the lead is “AS Hajir”, the highest-ranked player, and there is also “Ashjan”, who won at the Sharjah track last season, as well as “Al Gharbi” is participating.
One of the most prominent participants in the fourth run for a distance of 2000 meters is “Shamakh”, which has the highest rating, and among the competitors is “Will Power”, and there is also “AF exit”, who is ranked second in his last two participations.
The ceremony concludes with the sixth run, which is the only one dedicated to hybrid horses, with the participation of 14 horses competing for a distance of 1200 metres, “Handicap”. The horse “Sports Reporter” is looking forward to achieving its first victory after a strong performance at Jebel Ali Racecourse, where it finished runner-up, and competes strongly with “Cosmo Kramer”.
