Hate campaigns have hurt the Greens in the federal elections. This should now be prevented in the NRW state elections.
Munich / Düsseldorf – Annalena Baerbock has made it – and is still considered by some to have failed. Although the Green politician is now Germany’s first female foreign minister, her goal was to be the first female Green Chancellor to rule the country. With 14.8 percent and as the second strongest party in the traffic light government, this was unthinkable. Baerbock was not only well received by voters because of his own mistakes, but also because of targeted campaigns – which has now resulted in a special job advertisement in North Rhine-Westphalia.
State elections will take place there in 2022. Press spokesman Jan Miebach said opposite The West: “It was not just since the last federal election campaign that we noticed that we Greens are increasingly exposed to evil slander and fake news campaigns from different directions – online and offline.”
Greens spokesman: “Anonymous attacks will increase”
Miebach continues: “Unfortunately, we have to assume that these anonymous attacks will increase on the way towards election day. We are preparing for this in terms of both personnel and structure, ”said Greens spokesman Miebach.
The Greens now want to commit support for this. The party placed a job advertisement for a speaker for defensive communication ”. This has the following tasks: “Strategy development in crisis situations, analysis of the political situation and anticipation of critical situations in the state election campaign” as well as “Monitoring disinformation campaigns and coordinating countermeasures”.
The background was fake news and smear campaigns against Baerbock – for example the fictional claim that the green candidate for chancellor wanted to ban the private keeping of dogs and cats for reasons of climate protection.
Smear campaigns against Baerbock: “mass immigration”, “paternalism” and “climate socialism”
Even street posters against Baerbock were put up. In terms of layout, they were similar to the Greens, but warned against “mass immigration”, “paternalism” or “climate socialism”.
Will the new advisor for defensive communication be able to successfully defend the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia? The last Infratest survey on behalf of the WDR At least the eco-party is currently promising 17 percent of the electorate there, which together with the SPD (31 percent) could be enough for a majority. Unvaccinated people have to expect more restrictions in view of the high corona numbers. A doctor is now calling for her to be banned from supermarkets as well. (cg)
