Ministry of Women will send partner drivers and users content about Ligue 180, a channel for gender crimes
O Ministry of Women entered into a partnership with Uber to combat violence against women in the country. The campaign is one of the federal agency's measures for the month of March, which marks International Women's Day. There will be publicity for the Call 180which is the public service that guides victims of gender-based crimes in the country – such as physical, emotional and property violence.
Throughout March, users and partner drivers of the app transport company will receive regular information about the Ligue 180 functionality. The channel is available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. The service guides women in situations of violence and forwards cases to the competent bodies. Victims can also seek the same service via WhatsApp (61) 99610-0180.
According to Ellen Costa, general coordinator of Ligue 180, the ministry has “worked with priority on restructuring and improvements” of the channel. For this, there are “constant promotion of the center with public benefit campaigns and in different spaces through partners, such as Uber”.
“It is important that women in situations of violence and all people who can help them know that they can use the channel to ask for help, information, guidance and also to make reports”he stated.
According to Gabriela Silveira, Public Policy manager at Uber, the initiative integrates a “public commitment” which aims to combat violence against women in Brazil.
“For Uber, it makes perfect sense to join efforts around initiatives like this that seek to foster a culture of safety and respect in our society. Combating violence against women is a priority agenda for us and we are always in dialogue with experts, third sector organizations and authorities to build a safer future for Brazilian women”he declared.
