Golden Ax: The Animated Series Coming to Comedy Central

Comedy Central commissioned a ten-episode animated series based on Golden Axethe historic videogame IP from SAW.

In the cast of Golden Axe They will be present Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre and Carl Tart. It will be produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television And Original Film. Below is the information released by Comedy Central.

A hilarious and affectionate homage to the 1989 SEGA video game series, Golden Ax follows veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they fight once again to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who doesn't seem to want to stay dead. Luckily, this time they have the inexperienced and unprepared Hampton Squib on their side.

• Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Perry Mason) will interpret Gilius Thunderheada grumpy battle dwarf with exceptionally poor hygiene and an inferiority complex.
• Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest, Community) will interpret Hampton Squib, a naive and inexperienced adventurer who dreams of going on adventures all his life. He hopes that his can-do attitude will make up for his inability to actually get things done.
• Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty, Interior Chinatown) in the role of Tyris Flarea fearsome battle sorceress, deadly in combat and even deadlier with her sharp wit.
• Liam McIntyre (Spartacus, The Flash) in the role of Ax Battler, a barbaric warrior with a strict code of honor and a sweet golden retriever demeanor. His muscles are superior to his brain, but his heart is superior to his muscles.
• Carl Tart (Grand Crew, Star Trek: Lower Decks) in the role of Chronos “Evil” Laitfrom Golden Ax III, is a very badass humanoid panther. Or at least that's how Chronos describes himself. In reality he is uncomfortably saccharine and cannot understand situations.

Fans can expect numerous exciting cameos from the world of Golden Axe.

Golden Ax is produced by Eye Animation Productions of CBS, the animation division of CBS Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Original Film. Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Solar Opposites) and Joe Chandler (American Dad) will co-write the first episode and executive produce the series, while Chandler will serve as showrunner. Haruki Satomi (president and CEO of SEGA Sammy Holdings Inc.), Shuji Utsumi (president and COO of SEGA Corporation) and Toru Nakahara (Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles, Streets of Rage) will also serve as executive producers alongside Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Ascher from Original Film. Titmouse (Big Mouth) is the animation studio of the series and Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina are the executive producers.
