Edoardo Bove, a 22-year-old Fiorentina player, collapsed and unconscious this afternoon on the field in the 17th minute of the match against Inter that was being played at the Artemio Franchi stadium in Florence to be taken to hospital. It all started when Inter were protesting a disallowed Lautaro goal and the VAR was reviewing it. Bove collapsed to the ground unnaturally, unconsciously and very close to the bench area. It took just seconds for the players from both teams to request medical intervention while they made a circle around them, including members of the coaching staff of both teams, so that nothing could be seen in the stadium or on the television broadcast.
After a few moments of enormous tension, with the Franchi stadium completely quiet, the player was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
