Screenwriter and film director Jeff Baena, husband of Aubrey Plazawas found dead this Friday at his home in Los Angeles, at 47 years of age. According to several North American media outlets, the first investigations would point to suicide as the cause of death.
Apparently, the American filmmaker was found dead by assistant of your home. He himself notified the emergency services, who could do nothing to save him and confirmed his death. The police will investigate, however, the causes.
Born in June 1977 in Miami, Baena was a well-known name in independent cinema. He studied film at New York University and worked on several projects, always highlighting his work in dark comedies, with black humoreccentric characters and experimental films.
His most notable works have been ‘Life After Beth‘ (2014), with which he received multiple praise for his approach, and then came ‘The Little Hours’ (2017) with which he delved into the medieval world. More recently he wrote and directed ‘Horse Girl’, in which its protagonist faced paranoid phenomena.
Baena is also known for having collaborated with other renowned directors and actresses, such as the North American Aubrey Plaza, who became one of his muses. The star of ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘The White Lotus’ was, in fact, his girlfriend since 2011 and the two ended up getting married in 2021.
