The European Commission (EC) has awarded the collaboration between the digital innovation nodes of Extremadura, the Canary Islands and Aragon to promote digitization business.
He Extremadura Digital Innovation Node (EDIH), a public-private Extremaduran consortium led by the Government of Extremadura through FUNDECYT-PCTEX and which functions as one-stop shop for business digitalizationhas received in Brussels the Public Award for Best Collaboration Practice in Europe for its digitalization training program for SMEs, developed jointly with the Canary Islands and Aragon.
The EDIH Extremadura has 4 million euros budget co-financed by Europe and the Government of Spain, and thus receives international recognition from the EC for the ‘Triangular Series’ initiative, a cycle of free training promoted by FUNDECYT-PCTEX and other European entities, aimed at SMEs to enhance their digital transformation.
From October to December, this European-recognized program aims to help SMEs in the region develop key digital skillsthrough practical sessions, tools and specific digital methodologies in strategic sectors such as agribusiness and energy.
The topics addressed during the sessions revolve around technologies such as applied quantum computing and Robotic Process Automation (RPA), focused on optimizing tasks and improving operational efficiency. Also, specific solutions for the agribusiness and energy sector, including artificial intelligence, data analysis and Internet of Things tools, designed to improve productivity and reduce costs.
The award was collected by FUNDECYT-PCTEX technicians during the annual meeting of the Network of European Digital Innovation Centers (REDIH), which these days brings together international experts and public representatives in Brussels to debate key topics such as the challenges of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and innovative solutions in sectors such as agri-food, construction, cybersecurity, digital health or smart connectivity.
The Extremaduran Node
The Extremadura node is constituted as one stop shop for services training, technological for innovation and business development to promote the digitalization of Extremaduran companies.
The initiative is part of the European Digital Innovation Hub (REDIH) network that the European Commission has launched with the aim of helping 75 percent of European SMEs carry out advanced digitalization processes by 2030.
For this, the services specialize in four conceptual areassuch as technologies for efficiency, mainly in the use of energy; technologies for ecology, new technologies to promote ecological transition and sustainability in SMEs; technologies for the economy, aimed at developing and implementing industry 4.0 and technologies for equity aligned at the service of society.
It is a fully connected nationally and internationally joint assets and competence center and innovation enablers, which is also known by the name ‘TEch4efficiency’.
Thus, the Government of Extremadura makes available to the regional business community a space that facilitates digital transition process and in which they can test advanced technologies before investing to implement them in their businesses.
The Extremadura Digital Innovation Node is coordinated by the Government of Extremadura and ten other Extremadura entities participate; business associations such as AEXTIC or the energy cluster, business support entities such as the chambers of commerce of Badajoz and Cáceres, competence centers such as CICYTEX, FEVAL or the University of Extremadura, as well as advanced infrastructures such as COMPUTAEX. The consortium is completed with the accession of the Badajoz and Cáceres councils.
