BRUSSELS. “What matters” for Italy “is having a vice-president and a Serie A commissioner. Italy cannot fail to have a vice-presidency, it must be asked for and Italy has the right to have it, it was a mistake not to ask for it” in last legislature. This was said by the Foreign Minister and leader of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the EPP pre-summit in Brussels. “We are a founding country and we have an important role to play,” he added.
Tusk, I don’t have to convince Meloni, there is already a majority in Parliament
‘It’s not my job to convince Giorgia Meloni. If I understand correctly we now have a majority in the European Parliament rebuilt by center parties such as the EPP, Social Democrats, Liberals and some small (other) groups. My feeling is that this is more than enough to define the whole new landscape, including who will lead the European Commission.’ Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists before the start of the meeting of EPP leaders. Commission President von der Leyen also participates. At 6pm the 27 heads of state and government of the EU will meet for a first discussion on the post-election period. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has already arrived in Brussels a few hours ago and is having meetings at the Amigo hotel.
