A demonstration against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu near the prime minister’s residence in Jerusalem ended in a clash with police.
According to the Times of Israel newspaper, at least nine people were arrested. During the commotion, a traffic light and a pole were knocked down and tables at a pizzeria in the region were overturned.
The police used water cannons against the protesters and a doctor, who was hit in the eye, had to be taken to the hospital. The protest was declared illegal.
The demonstration was held hours after Netanyahu announced the dissolution of the war cabinet, formed in October last year to make decisions on the conflict against the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The decision was taken after oppositionist Benny Gantz left the cabinet last week. Now, decisions about the war will be made by a smaller collegiate body.
