The miracles are not over yet. The EU agrees with the combustion engines, also after 2035.
Everything becomes fluid under pressure. This does not only apply to the plankton that once turned into oil in the soil of the sandbox. It also applies to political agreements, agreements and bargaining. For example, the EU wanted to abolish the car with a combustion engine from 2035. Everything must and will become electric.
But… due to the reality of the day, a war in Ukraine, a chip shortage and the aftermath of Corona, the German industry feels the strain. You can have principles, but you also have to put bread on the table. And so, together with Italy, they insisted on exceptions at the last minute.
The Germans state that cars on synthetic fuel can also contribute to a cleaner world. Moreover, the large German giants can then continue to sell their products and utilize their expertise. You have a point in itself. Especially since the electricity that EVs ‘run’ on is usually not spotless either.
The EU was not amused, but has now given way after Germany’s ‘Nein’. All of us Frans Timmermans announces today, together with the German Minister of Transport, that an agreement has been reached. Under this agreement, combustion engines may also be supplied in cars after 2035, provided that they (only) run on synthetic fuel. Good news for everyone who has a warm heart for roaring Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos et cetera. Thank you Germany. And while you’re at it; return those bikes.
