São Paulo, 18 – The harvest of the Brazilian soybean harvest 2023/24 was completed in Brazil, reported the National Supply Company (Conab), in a weekly survey of harvest progress. Last week, 99.9% of the area was harvested and, by Sunday, the 16th, field work was completed in the 12 oilseed producing states – Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás , Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
The harvest of the first corn crop in the country reached 88.1% of the planted area, an increase of 2.9 percentage points in the week and an increase of 0.1 percentage point between seasons. São Paulo, Goiás, Paraná and Santa Catarina have already completed the harvest. Rio Grande do Sul removed 97% of the cereal from the field, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to last week and an identical percentage compared to the same period last year.
The 2023/24 second crop corn harvest reached 13.1% of the area, an increase of 5.6 percentage points compared to last week and 7.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Mato Grosso has the most advanced harvest, with 18.1% of the area harvested. Next come Paraná, with 13%; Tocantins and Mato Grosso do Sul, both with 10%. Only Piauí has not yet started harvesting.
The harvest of rice crops reached 99.8% of the predicted area, an increase of 0.6 percentage points in one week and an identical percentage to the same period last year. Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to Mato Grosso and Santa Catarina, have already completed the harvest. Tocantins remains (with 99% of the area harvested); Maranhão (98%) and Goiás (99.5%).
The 2023/24 cotton harvest reached, until Sunday, 3.1% of the planted area, an increase of 1.4 percentage points in the week and 1.6 percentage points ahead of 2022/23. Minas Gerais leads the ranking, with 11% of the harvested area, followed by Mato Grosso do Sul, with 9%. Bahia had 7% of the area harvested and Goiás, 5%. Maranhão had removed 2% from the field and Mato Grosso, 1.9%. The only state that has not yet started work is Piauí.
Regarding the 2023/24 winter harvest, Conab reported that wheat planting reached 56.4% of the estimated area by Sunday, an increase of 9.6 percentage points in the week and a delay of 4.6 percentage points compared to the season last. Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia and Mato Grosso do Sul have already completed the work. Goiás then planted 99% of the planned area; Paraná, 82% and Rio Grande do Sul, 25%. Santa Catarina sowed 1% of the planned area.
