I flash Aston Martin
The ‘crazy’ Qualifying in Brazil rewarded theAston Martin, who will start on the second row with both drivers on Sunday. Lance Stroll, after a rather long series of eliminations in Q1, even had the luxury of beating his illustrious boxmate Fernando Alonso by 43 thousandths, but what matters for the Aston Martin pair is having found a competitive AMR23 on the splendid ups and downs of Interlagos.
Stroll pointed out that in the race on Sunday it won’t be easy to resist comebacks of the drivers who will start behind the two standard bearers of the team owned by Lawrence, but the Ferrari team principal Vasseur, however, does not want to underestimate the competitiveness of the Silverstone team. Below are the statements from Stroll and Alonso.
The words of Fernando Alonso to the microphones of Sky Sport F1
“I think in the last two GPs we have experimented a bit. There was a need for a result like this in Brazil for both cars and to find some hope within the team. We showed that we have learned some things and we are still quite competitive. It shows that we know what we are doing and I’m happy with that. I hope it’s a clean weekend, I hope I can have a good Sprint and a good race on Sunday. We will start from a great position, maybe it won’t rain as much as today, but I hope there can be a little more sunshine so people will have more fun.”
The words of Lance Stroll on Sky Sport F1
“I don’t know if we will be the third fastest car, because McLaren will be faster on Sunday. We had some luck with the rain coming in and we got around early, and I don’t think everyone else did. Perez will certainly recover too, as will the McLarens, but we’ll see what we can do. You can’t change much about the car, but today we had some good feelings. I felt good throughout Qualifying.”
