Today, the Australian authorities evacuated a number of suburbs in low-lying areas in the city of Sydney caused by flash floods due to heavy rains.
The emergency authorities in Sydney stated that they carried out 13 rescue operations and received 297 calls for help from residents of Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, during the past 24 hours until five in the morning local time, due to floods resulting from torrential rains.
The New South Wales Emergency Service reported, in a statement, that 10 emergency evacuation orders were issued in the northwestern suburbs of the city.
The Australian Meteorology Service warned of the possibility of massive flooding in northwest Sydney, which has a population of about five million people, later in the day.
