Today, at Al Marmoom Nature Reserve, the 50-km “Al Marmoom Marathon” race, which started from the Expo 2020 lake in Al Marmoom Reserve, was concluded today, and was organized by Fit Group Middle East in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, with the participation of the world’s strongest long-distance and desert runners from 40 nationalities. They are led by the Moroccan ultra marathon world champion Rachid Al-Murabati, who won the title of the first edition of the race in 2018, and the Jordanians Salama Al-Aqra and Muhammad Al-Suwaiti, and Serbian Ivana Kolaric, and the second 5 km for local runners.
Moroccan Rachid Al-Murabati won first place in the ultra race for a distance of 50 km after finishing the race in a time of 4:04:36 hours, followed by Jordanian Salama Al-Aqra, who finished the race in a time of 4:10:27 hours, and Moroccan Rachid Amimi Al-Amrani in the center The third after finishing the race in a time of 4:43:16 hours.
In the women’s category, Serbian Ivana Kolarik won first place after finishing the race in a time of 5:06:03 hours, followed by Britain’s Zoe Cresswell in a time of 5:42:33 hours, and Portuguese Clara Andre finished third with a time of 5:52:09 hours.
Kenyan Paul Como won the 5 km race to run on soft sand in the men’s category after finishing the race in a time of 22:30 minutes, followed by Emirati Mohammed Al Hassani in second place with a time of 23:22 minutes, and Emirati Ibrahim Al Shamsi in third place with a time of 26: 05 minutes, and in the women’s category, Hungarian Ari Becker won the first place with a time of 35:36 minutes, followed by German Akemi Hoshi Makrans in second place with a time of 36:19 minutes, and Greta Trippi from the Republic of Malta came in third place with a time of 37:25 minutes.
430 contestants of more than 40 nationalities participated in the two races, a large number of whom came from outside the country to participate in the race, especially from Britain, Germany, Malta, Uruguay, Serbia, Russia, Kenya, Czech and Uzbekistan. The number of participants in the ultra 50 km race reached 110 contestants, including 91 men and 19 Of the women, while 320 contestants participated in the 5 km race, including 255 men and 65 women, and 120 contestants from Zayed Military College participated in the race. At the end of the race, the contestants participated in planting 120 Ghaf trees around the Expo 2020 lake, to contribute to the Leave a lasting legacy.
