A medical team in the Emirates managed to rescue a European woman who had a stroke, after being bitten by a rare jellyfish, which caused her to have a stroke.
55-year-old European S.K. was on a cruise when she was stung by a jellyfish and had severe swelling in her arm and a blockage in a major artery, affecting arm functions.
She went to Al-Zahra Hospital in Dubai, and the doctors discovered that she had a blood clot in her arm.
Although jellyfish stings rarely lead to these complications, and most stings are usually minor and do not require any medical intervention, the condition of the victim was unusually serious, which necessitated examination by a specialized vascular surgeon.
Dr. Mohamed Raafat Aqeela, Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Al Zahra Hospital, Dubai, said: “The patient was in a critical condition and I had to have an immediate surgery to ensure that her arm was saved. Because of her complex condition, we also had to perform several additional surgeries to ensure that her arm was saved. cure her
Correctly, and after performing surgeries, giving her the necessary medicines and completing all the medical measures, the patient’s health began to improve significantly, and within two weeks of her stay at Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai, she was allowed out after fully recovering.”
Initially, doctors surgically removed the thrombus by injecting a clot-dissolving blood into the arteries, which took about 6 hours to complete. The goal was to remove the blood clot, allow blood to flow freely and avoid other serious complications.
The patient then required other operations to ensure the vitality of her arm tissues, and a complex surgical dressing was performed to ensure that the tissues healed properly.
The patient also underwent skin grafting surgery to cover the damaged skin and speed up the recovery of the condition.
About her experience at Al-Zahra Hospital in Dubai, patient SK said: “At first, because I did not know where to go to seek help, but fortunately for me, I was referred to the surgeon Dr. Muhammad Aqeela, who gave me and my husband all the support throughout the treatment period and made us feel as if we were in our house.I can’t help but to
