German appointed by the government Joachim Nagelin Appointed new Governor of the Bundesbank. Nagel follows in the mission Jens Weidmannia, who leaves the post at the turn of the year.
Known as a tight inflation hawk, Weidmann announced its premature resignation in the fall. He has pursued a tighter monetary policy and has not accepted the generous stimulus policy of the European Central Bank.
The Treasury minister Christian Lindner tweetedthat Nagel is an experienced person representing continuity in the Bundesbank.
Nagel, 55, has worked for the Bundesbank for 17 years and has worked for the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) since last year.
