The fourth edition of the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Italia gets hot. The second stage disputed to simulators on the Mugello circuit and broadcast on Monday evening by Sky Sport Arena, he decreed well two connections at the top of both drivers’ classifications and one overtaking, but also in this case with two teams in cohabitation, at the top of the ranking reserved for teams.
The round on the Tuscan circuit, as always reproduced in details in Assetto Corsa, reiterated the balance and spectacle of the virtual single-brand store inaugurated in 2018 by the partnership between Porsche Italia and Ak Esports. After two very tight qualifications (gaps now in the order of thousandths), Simone Cunati takes revenge in the two races on Leo Caglioni, reaching him at the top of the standings real pilots, and Danilo Santoro returns to victory grabbing in turn Stefano Battistella, winner at Misano, in that of the sim racer, who in 2019 saw the Roman conquer the title.
Race 1
Despite the excellent starting point of Caglioni (Ombra Racing) at the start, it is Cunati who wins there first race of the Mugello Circuit reserved for “real” pilots with Team Glo. In fact, the two exchanged the order of arrival of the opening race at Misano and therefore relaunch once more their respective role as contender for the title.
Behind them Giorgio Amati advances in excellent progression. The Dinamic Motorsport rookie grabbed the first podium of his virtual season ahead of his teammate Simone Iaquinta, who in turn finished ahead of Michele Malucelli. The young man from Romagna has thus confirmed himself among the top-5, consolidating his third place in the general classification.
Not far in the standings is Giammarco Levorato, who finished seventh with the 911 GT3 Cup in Tsunami RT livery, while the first points scored by Diego Cassarà (Raptor Engineering) and Alessandro Baccani (Ebimotors) are reported.
Race 2
Also there race that sees sim racers challenge each other, especially in the opening bars, he experienced great tussles among the first on the starting grid. After half an hour of frenzied rhythms, Santoro managed to take his first 2021 success preceding Michele Nerbi, the Ebomotors standard-bearer classified in the wake of the 2019 champion after having shown once again that he can also be in the game for the championship despite the penalty remedied in the post -competition.
The podium was completed by Maichol Tonizza. The sim racer from Viterbo of Raptor Engineering, in his first season in the Porsche Esports CCI, also climbed up in a ranking where thanks to fourth place Battistella (Tsunami RT) keeps the lead, albeit now on an equal footing with Santoro, and where also the 19 year old Cagliari rookie Alessandro Siddi (Ghinzani Arco Motorsport) remained in battle among the top-5 after the podium of the previous round.
Still a bit detached, however, is the reigning champion Gianfranco Giglioli, who with the seventh place in Mugello has however improved the tenth position conquered in Misano.
The Bolognese sim racer of Venezuelan origin is in any case contributing to Team Glo’s points haul, which adding Cunati’s victory jumped to the top of the ranking of the teams, which he now shares with Ombra Racing (Ciriello / Caglioni).
Passed by both teams Tsunami, which, however, chases just 2 points with Battistella / Levorato and also the Team Malucelli (Vernole / Malucelli) And Dinamic Motorsport (Baio / Amati) they are still hooked on the train of the best.
The third round of 2021, on the Imola circuit, will be broadcast on Monday 20 December at 9.00 pm again by Sky Sport Arena.
