All were vaccinated and are asymptomatic for now, but the positives have forced the mobilization of doctors from other areas of the Regional University of the capital
The daily work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Regional University Hospital of Malaga has been affected by the appearance of a covid-19 outbreak among the professionals that make up this service. As confirmed by health sources, 22 ICU professionals from the hospital center have been infected by the virus and are currently on sick leave.
However, sources consulted by the newspaper ‘Sur’ point out that the number of infected for now rises to 70. Those infected belong to the former Carlos Haya and were infected during the celebration of a Christmas meal, held in a restaurant in the capital which was attended by 174 people.
After detecting the positives, the hospital has implemented all the usual protocols in this type of case and has begun to substitute professionals to guarantee medical service. Apparently, they have even had to mobilize emergency doctors and nurses to guarantee service in the Intensive Care Unit.
As the aforementioned media has been able to confirm, all the professionals who have been infected were vaccinated and are asymptomatic. In any case, this coronavirus outbreak has alerted all departments to the point that some have decided to suspend their corresponding Christmas celebrations and others to divide them into two shifts so as not to compromise the daily work in the hospital.
