White House Accuses Putin of Lack of Interest in New START Dialogue
The White House National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said that the Biden administration does not believe that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin is interested in resuming talks on extending the Russian-American Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). Kirby’s words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Kirby said Putin was not interested in a dialogue on the New START treaty. “It doesn’t look like he’s interested,” the American official said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
