“We are shocked to announce that only 5 hours after the interview of our friend Hon. Williams Dávila to Adnkronos, in which he appealed to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and a few hours after my last phone call with him, in Caracas, the regime illegally kidnapped him in the square through the collectives. We have no more news about his fate, we are in constant contact with his family and with the Friends of the Venezuelan opposition”. This was stated by Alessandro Bertoldi, Executive Director of the Milton Friedman Institute, an organization based in Rome present in over 30 countries worldwide.
“Williams – he underlines – is a true lion of freedom, he was governor of Merida and member of parliament, he is one of the most established leaders of the opposition and for 5 years he has been part of the Scientific Committee of our Friedman Institute. Williams is also a Portuguese citizen”.
“We immediately ask the international community and in particular the governments of Portugal and Italy – Bertoldi underlines – to make every possible effort for his release, as well as for that of all political prisoners in Venezuela. We also denounce the disappearance of the Hon. Americo de Grazia, another friend, a historic face of the Venezuelan opposition and an Italian citizen, of whom there has been no news for over 24 hours. The European Union has the moral, civil and legal duty to intervene and exert every pressure for the release of political dissidents, especially when they are also European citizens”.
