Young threw a bottle bomb at friends playing football in Espoo, informs the police.
According to the police, a small group of young people were playing football on the school field when three young people arrived. One of them threw a bottle bomb at the players, which exploded and injured one player’s eyes.
The eye injury required immediate hospital treatment and it is uncertain whether the young person will have permanent damage, the police say.
The police are investigating the incident that happened in Tiistilä in Espoo in July as aggravated assault.
Both the suspects of the crime and the victim are under 15 years old, says the inspector Hannu Väänänen in the police bulletin.
A bottle bomb is, according to the police, a generic term for a trick, where substances are usually put into a plastic bottle, the chemical reaction of which causes a strong pressure in the bottle. As the pressure increases, the bottle usually cracks with a bang.
According to the police, there are often strongly alkaline or acidic solutions inside that can cause damage.
