A court in Barnaul gave military man Kitaev 9 years for going AWOL and stealing 160 thousand rubles.
The Barnaul garrison military court sentenced serviceman Vadim Kitaev to nine years in prison, who twice failed to show up for duty on time and stole 160 thousand rubles from people he knew. Lenta.ru was informed about this in the 2nd Eastern District Military Court.
The military man will serve his sentence in a general regime colony and will pay a fine of 200 thousand rubles.
According to the investigation, Kitaev, wanting to temporarily evade military service and take a break from his duties, did not report for duty on June 8, 2023. Two months later he arrived at the police department, but a week later he failed to show up at the military unit again. He was detained on November 25. Later it turned out that during AWOL, the military man, for the purpose of personal enrichment, transferred 100 thousand rubles from his father’s account to his bank account using a mobile application, and stole 60 thousand rubles from a friend while in his rented apartment.
Earlier, a court in Vladivostok sentenced American serviceman Gordon Black, finding him guilty of threatening to kill and theft. He was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in a general regime colony.
