A suspected Russian agent was detained in Switzerland weeks before the start of the Peace Summit for Ukraine, held last weekend, after it was found that he had established contacts to obtain weapons and dangerous substances, according to media reports from the editorial group. Tamedia.
According to journalistic information, the individual was accredited as a diplomat by Russia in Bern, the political and administrative capital of Switzerland, and, after being released, the authorities asked him to leave the country.
In turn, the Swiss Attorney General’s Office confirmed the existence of a request for authorization to prosecute him, which is being analyzed and which would involve two people.
According to the entity, in the current phase of the investigation there is no indication that an attack was being planned in Switzerland, according to information from the Swiss news agency Atts.
One of the people investigated would be suspected of violating the law on military materials and the law on embargoes, and the other of violating the law on control of goods and the law on embargoes.
The Peace Summit for Ukraine took place last Saturday (15) and Sunday (16) in Switzerland, amid major security measures, with the presence of heads of state from more than 60 countries, among a hundred official delegations.
Among the participants were Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky; the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, and several European and Latin American presidents and heads of government.
