Todd Howard talked a little about The Elder Scrolls 6 revealing some details, such as the fact that there is an intention to support it over time and what technologies it is built on.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is far away, both because its teaser is years old and because it will still take some time before it is released. The hope is that in these years there is room to discover something new about the gamebut as development continues.
Precisely in this regard, in an interview with MrMattyPlays, Todd Howard spoke briefly about the role-playing game.
Howard’s words on The Elder Scrolls 6
Howard spoke about wanting to give TES 6 long-term support: “Given what Skyrim or other games have done, for Elder Scrolls 6… yeah, I’ll stop there,” Howard teased, before adding: ” We know that people are going to play it for a long time. So a game like that doesn’t just mean beyond content, in what it means for your character, in what it means for other things that makes us say: ” Hey, could this be something you guys come back to?” We see that with Skyrim and what people do in the game today. Even though it’s popular, what do people do when they come back to the game after leaving it for a few years?”
Howard also said that the technology used for Starfield was the “starting point” for The Elder Scrolls 6, “and then obviously we’ll try to make a further leap in quality in technology, looking at what’s coming in the future, how to do it, and aiming higher and higher.” But when asked to talk about this technology, Howard didn’t give in, simply saying: “For now it’s a secret !”.
Howard was also asked if the type of procedural generation seen in Starfield will be carried forward for games like Elder Scrolls 6. Howard’s response was vague and said that procedural generation has “always been a tool in our toolbox.”
Howard was very vague in his answers, with unclear sentences, but it is understandable given that we are talking about a game that will still require years of work. Instead, he was a little more direct regarding the fact that a full six years have passed since the first and only teaser for TES 6.
